On the other hand, it’s possible some potential buyers will repaint the home upon moving in. So if you have a limited budget, your money (and time) might be better invested in other types of home projects, such as remodeling your bathroom or kitchen, installing new floors or fixing broken appliances.

When asked what he’d do if he were to retire tomorrow, Dean says he would spend more time in the mountains. “Right now, with running the business, my wife and I are limited in how much time we can spend at the cabin. If I was retired, I could stay there more than three or four days at a time. I’d stay for a couple of weeks and just relax, hike, and fish.” A: I’ve always preferred music, but as I’m getting older, I’m enjoying talk radio more. One thing that separates Ron's Painting from other painting contractors in Southwest Florida, is Ron, the owner is on every job working with his crew. Quality Without Question is our motto.
Twenty-five years later, as owner of El Gato Painting & Restoration, Inc., Ken says he continues to derive fulfillment from seeing the results of his work. “I find it very satisfying to watch our company operating smoothly and doing great work. When a customer is happy with the final product and tells me what a great job our guys did, that confirms we’re doing things right, which makes me feels good.”
Another option for exterior paint build up is to have all the old paint stripped down to bare wood, primed and painted so all surfaces look nearly new and relatively smooth. This is a very time consuming, labor intensive and expensive process so your budget will drive the decision process.
Of course, how smooth your painted surfaces will look majorly depends on the climate of the area, but if you stick to the guidelines we have discussed here, you are sure to have an unblemished finish. Before you start painting, get your siding in top shape. Repair cracks and holes in finishes such as stucco, replace any rotten wood and treat insects and mold. Putty surface pitting and seal seams. If you want to remove peeling or cracking paint, you can sandblast. Follow up this with a power wash and ensure you apply the recommended amount of pressure. After power wash, allow your surfaces to dry completely so that you will have no trapped moisture under your paint. Also, in case it rains heavily, gives your house time to dry. Observe the weather to ensure that painting is done when the weather is dry and mild

I’ve been painting homes for over 15 years and I think you’ve nailed it: PREPPING. Most DIY’ers and home owners have little to no knowledge about the amount of time and cost it takes to prepare a project prior to painting. Your Article did a Great job in explaining some of the procedures that are necessary for a truly professional paint job. All to often the prepping is weak or non existing. As you pointed out, covering badly stained walls or ceilings with a coat of Kiln is probably not enough. Just wondering how many hours were spent in the prepping of your project? Great details and information. House Painting NY April 07, 2021
Ask companies to include all details in writing. Although that sounds simple enough, too many contractors submit offers such as “paint house for $5,000.” A friendly contractor may offer a reassuring handshake and promise that the crew will take care of all the details — starting on time, working every day, cleaning up, etc. That’s great, but why not include each point in the proposal? If it’s a challenge to get a written description of labor, materials and other details, things will probably get worse when the work starts.
SAN FRANCISCO — Born and raised in Ukraine, Yefim Skomorovsky moved to the United States shortly after reaching adulthood. Nearly 30 years later, he says living in two different parts of the world has given him a broader perspective not only in life, but in his career as well. “I enrolled in a painting apprenticeship when I was 14 years old, and after it was over I began working full-time in the industry,” he remembers. “When I was 18, I moved with my family to the U.S., where I got into another painting apprenticeship. I think being formally trained in both European and American painting methods has given me an advantage in terms of knowledge and perspective.”
