The final cost will heavily depend on the size and nature of the painting project. For estimating the quantity of paint required, you will need to know the room wall sizes (length, height, and width), the number of windows, size of windows, the number of doors and size of doors. A standard living room (12’x8’) will require 2-3 gallons of paint using the industry average of 350 sq.ft. per gallon. Depending on the brand of the product and finish type, the cost can range from $30 to $100 for two gallons. If you plan to have a different color on the ceiling, trim or an accent wall, that will have to be calculated separately and would again add to the final cost.

Painters with bad reputations can avoid the problem of reference checks by giving their customers lists of relatives and friends. The people will say great things, and the customer won’t be the wiser. The best way to avoid this smoke and mirror trick is to ask specific questions about the project. If the reference seems hesitant, doesn’t know the details, or gives sketchy responses, be skeptical.

“Don’t trust impressions and make decisions based on in-store color swatches,” Kara advised. “There are many factors that affect your final result. Make sure you take interior lighting into full consideration. Testing your paint is mandatory. Swatches never reflect the actual color of the finished paint job.”
You’re not expecting to paint entire houses on your own, are you? Once you’ve got your business set up, it’s time to figure out whether you want to hire employees or use subcontractors instead. If you choose the former option, you’ll have to buy equipment and supplies for your own workers to use—but you’ll retain control over your business. If you choose to use subcontractors, who are essentially professional freelance painters, you won’t have to buy materials—but you’ll lose some control over your business.
Today, as general manager of T & J Painting, Shawn says his favorite part of his job is furthering the company’s good reputation. “Unfortunately, our industry has its share of shady companies that mislead customers and let them down. That’s why I take a lot of pride in earning our customers’ trust, delivering on our promises and maintaining our positive reputation. Of course, I also love hearing customers tell me they’re happy with our work.”

Ignacio and the Mayco team performed a wonderful job painting and repairing some woodwork our home. I highly recommend them. They were super clean, paid close attention to detail and extremely affordable. They made sure we were 100% satisfied with the work, kept to the schedule they promised and expertly helped us pick the brand/quality of paint. I would definitely use them again!
There's a problem with painting contractors...and other home improvement contractors as well. The truth is that, generally speaking, homeowners have a negative perception of them.

Even though they lack any professional experience in the trade - they do have a vehicle, a ladder, and some basic hand tools. It looks easy enough, so why not go slap some paint on the walls of an unsuspecting homeowner's house. What could possibly go wrong?
Mayco painting did an excellent job painting the exterior of our house. They took the time to properly prep the house for painting and did a careful job of painting. They took the time to do the job right. They were always on time and kept the job site clean. Very friendly and very accommodating. Fair price for their work. I highly recommend them and would not hesitate to use them again.
